Otorohanga's Kiwi House and Native Bird Park,
just a minute or two drive from the town
shopping centre, is definitely one of the
most peaceful and relaxing places you're
likely to visit.
If you are a student of
bird life, you will probably be trapped here
for quite a while.
I know little about the
subject, but found this wonderful residents'
and tourist attraction to be worth a great
deal more than the (April 2005) $24 dollar a couple entrance
charge, specially when I later discovered
that much of that goes towards protecting
and enhancing endangered species.
You will,
in addition, see kiwis pecking about in their low-light kiwi house, even though they
are a strictly night-life species.
